Will Trump Plead the 5th?

The Associated Press writes, “In an interview Sunday with ABC’s This Week, Giuliani dismissed as rumor his own statements about Trump’s payment to adult-film actress Stormy Daniels, said he can’t speak to whether the president lied to the American people when he denied knowledge of the silencing agreement and wouldn’t rule out the president asserting his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination in the Russia investigation.”

President Trump Supports Anti-Muslim Group ‘Britain First’

In a string of three retweets this morning, President Trump seemingly showed support for Jayda Fransen, the Deputy Leader of a hate group known as Britain First. The videos (entitled Muslim Migrant Beats Up Dutch Boy on Crutches, Muslim Destroys a Statue of Virgin Mary, and  Islamist Mob Pushes Teenage Boy Off Roof…) all portrayed disturbing and possibly faked content.

Fransen is well-known to U.K. authorities. She was charged with using “threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour” during a speech in Belfast last week. Fransen was also charged with causing religiously aggravated harassment for posting videos online during a gang rape trial. Britain First has been existence for six years.

Fransen responded to the president with the following statement:

The ‘Dutch boy’ video may be especially dubious. According to an article on Telegraaf.nl, the parent company of the site that released the video, the its original caption didn’t mention the race of either person and it was subsequently taken down from at the request of police and the victim.

“I’m flummoxed,” Rep. Jeff Flake responded on Capitol Hill. “I don’t know what that [retweeting these videos] gets you.”

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “Britain First is a vile, hate-fuelled organisation whose views should be condemned, not amplified.”

Several other British prime ministers & public figures have also responded:

Brendan Cox said the US President “should be ashamed of himself.”

His wife, MP Jo Cox, was murdered by right-wing extremist Thomas Mair as he shouted “Britain First.”

Britain First notes on its website that its policies are pro-British, its approach is no-nonsense and its principles are not open to compromise.
